From Crisis to Confidence: Jerilyn’s Journey to Stability

When Jerilyn first connected with Compass Affordable Housing (CAH), she was determined to break the cycle of addiction and instability that had consumed her life for 15 years. Multiple times, she had completed recovery programs and found herself back in survival mode, without a stable home. This time, she knew things had to be different. She wasn’t fighting for herself but for her future and her family.

Determined to break the cycle, she had a plan. “You are more than just an addict; you are a daughter, mother, sister, and aunt who is also struggling with addiction—this can make you feel worthless.” But Jerilyn refused to let that define her. She set goals: find a home, get a great job, build a stable life, and reconnect with her children.

This time, she had something she hadn’t before—a community of support that understood her journey. With CAH’s support, she found more than just housing—she found a community that gave her the tools to succeed.

Now, just two years later, Jerilyn’s life is completely transformed; she has a stable job where she is in a leadership role, has purchased a new car, enrolled in school to pursue a career in the medical field for long-term financial security, and most importantly, rebuilt her relationship with her children and family.

“Now, challenges are goals that I can attain—it has been a relief; I am able to achieve my dreams.”
