Recently retired, she continues to actively support those who help others in need and build vibrant, healthy communities. Having supported Compass Affordable Housing over the years, Jan is enthusiastically committed to continuing to support and advance CAH’s mission and connections within our community.
“It is a rare opportunity to be involved in an organization with so many accomplishments and so much potential to make a meaningful and measurable positive impact in our community.” – Jan Gordley.

Randy Peterson
Imago Dei Middle School, Development Officer
“My interest in serving on the Board for CAH is in direct response to seeing firsthand the devastating impact that poverty has on the people of our community. I know that being part of the solution means being part of a dedicated and effective team working to solve major problems.”

Bill Schlesinger
Bill Schlesinger has been a resident of Tucson for 45 years after growing up in Peoria, IL. He is currently winding down a 45-year career as a civil engineer; having recently sold the engineering firm he founded in 2012. During his 45 years in Tucson, he has been involved in several professional and community organizations, committees, and boards. In 1996, he became one of the founding board members for Compass Affordable Housing, moving over from the board for Compass Behavior Health. Bill spent over 25 years on the Compass Affordable Housing board, including serving as president of the board until 2018. During that time, he was involved in hiring CAH’s first CEO, developing three affordable housing projects and several housing programs.
“During my career as an engineer, I got to see projects built, but very seldom had the opportunity to see their benefit on a personal level. Over the years I have been involved with Compass, I get to see projects built, meet the people we serve and see the true difference it makes in their lives.” – Bill Schlesinger.

Charlene Robinson, Board Secretary / Treasurer
CONSOR Engineers
“As a CAH board member, it affords me the opportunity to be involved in the planning and development of affordable housing and other services for those in need, promoting a more stable and healthier environment.”

Terry McNellis
Commercial Developer
“Having grown up in a large family, and having lived in public housing, I know firsthand that people who rely on public/affordable housing do so because of very difficult circumstances, many of which are transitory. I have devoted my professional and volunteer energies and resources toward the goal of ensuring that people who need quality affordable housing have access to it. When I moved from Minnesota to Tucson, I found Compass Affordable Housing to be the ideal organization with whom I could continue this work.”

Roxanna Valenzuela
Mayor of South Tucson/Community Activist
“We are facing an affordable housing shortage, leaving many on the streets. In a repeat of 2008, wealthy developers today are building their real estate empires on the backs of longtime local residents who find themselves displaced. Government moves slow, but when community comes together, we can tackle the root causes of poverty. “
