Board of Directors

Board President: Laurel Parker

Landscape Architect, Sculptor

“The meaning of life is to find your gift.  The purpose of life is to give it away.”  Pablo Picasso

Board Vice-President: Rosi A Andrade, PhD

University of Arizona SIROW, Research Professor

“I found social justice mirrored in the CAH leadership and a dedication to issues of equity and the opportunities for women and their families with inexistent or sketchy tenant histories.  As a University of Arizona research professor my work is service-based, collaboratively developing innovative approaches to community issues (e.g., poverty, education, equity); becoming a CAH board member allows me the opportunity to share my skills while learning in response to the call for affordable housing.”

Board Secretary/Treasurer: Richard K Mullen

First Interstate Bank, Banker/Financial Manager

“I joined the Board because I wanted to bring my financial experience to a local nonprofit organization.  CAH fit the bill because their goal is to provide safe, affordable housing to low income individuals and families and to provide valuable support services.”

Jim Tofel

Tofel Dent Construction

I joined the Board of CAH because I believe in the mission to provide sustainable and affordable housing to our community with the needed support services to help improve our residence’s quality of life. I am proud to have the opportunity to help with the future successes, including the potential development of new communities.

Terry McNellis

Commercial Developer – Corporate

“Having grown up in a large family, and having lived in public housing, I know firsthand that people who rely on public/affordable housing do so because of very difficult circumstances, many of which are transitory.  I have devoted my professional and volunteer energies and resources toward the goal of ensuring that people who need quality affordable housing have access to it.  When I moved from Minnesota to Tucson, I found Compass Affordable Housing to be the ideal organization with whom I could continue this work.”

Roxanna Valenzuela

Community Activist

We are facing an affordable housing shortage, leaving many on the streets. In a repeat of 2008, wealthy developers today are building their real estate empires on the backs of longtime local residents who find themselves displaced. Government moves slow, but when community comes together, we can tackle the root causes of poverty.

Charlene Robinson

CONSOR Engineers

As a CAH board member, it affords me the opportunity to be involved in the planning and development of affordable housing and other services for those in need, promoting a more stable and healthier environment.

Maryann Beerling

Chief Executive Officer, Compass Affordable Housing

“I accepted the position at CAH in 2008 because it was a small organization with a lot of potential. Today, we exceed our goals and get the opportunity to witness the positive changes families experience and that is heartwarming. The relationships we have with the families we work with and between staff are valuable and make the world a better place.”
